Interview with Lucy the Star

Let’s get to know Lucy the Star, the light of Christmas

“Hello Lucy, thank you for this precious opportunity! We know being close to you is a rare privilege that requires grace and a selfless heart. Let’s begin: can you tell us how you arrived in Santa Claus’ Kingdom?”

Lucy: Oh, it’s so wonderful to have you here! Many people think I’m a bit snobbish, that I keep everyone at a distance. That’s all nonsense! They just haven’t understood that it isn’t really up to me. Anyone can come close to me, as long as they have the purity, grace, generosity, and goodness of heart needed. That’s why it’s easier for children to be near me. How did I arrive in the Kingdom? It’s a shining story! I was born from a wish made by a child who dreamed of a magical place where every day could be Christmas. The great Polar Star, hearing his pure wish, sent a small fragment of its light down to Earth… and that fragment is me! When I landed, I gave life to the Kingdom of Santa Claus and to all my wonderful friends who live here! Just imagine, the story was so beautiful that they even wrote a famous book about it! You can also find it on that shiny thing… oh yes, the smartphone! If you go on YouTube and search for Lucy and the Mystery of the Lost Magic, every child can watch it as many times as they want. It’s a special adventure full of precious lessons.

“What is your role in the Kingdom?”

Lucy: My magic and my light feed the Christmas spirit of the Kingdom. I help keep the Christmas enchantment alive and, well… don’t forget I am a wishing star, and that’s my main job! Listen, I’ll explain how it works: my job is to make wishes come true, but I don’t do it alone. Santa receives all the letters, he knows every wish, and he decides which ones are ready to be fulfilled. That’s because every wish needs time to grow. When a wish is ready, Santa brings it to me… and… pufffff… it comes true! I have no choice… if a wish reaches me, that means it’s ready, and it will automatically be fulfilled! That’s why stars are up in the sky, far away. Each person’s wish has to travel a long way before it gets to me. And the only way to make sure it gets there is to never stop believing in it. If it is pure… it will come true! That’s not a promise, it’s a certainty! Just like when little Elton wished for those delicious star-shaped glasses… he’s a huge
fan of mine!

“You mentioned work? Wait, you work in the Kingdom? You have to explain this… and then tell us, what is the hardest part of your job as a wishing star?”

Lucy: Of course we work here in the Kingdom of Santa Claus! Every inhabitant has their own occupation. It’s a practical and meaningful way to show that any job in life can become an extraordinary adventure… you just need to rekindle a bit of my Light inside yourself… which belongs to everyone! The hardest part of my work as a wishing star is having to wait. I know that some wishes need time to mature and become ready, but sometimes I wish I could make them all come true right away. It’s a lesson in patience and trust that I have to learn every day. Luckily, I am surrounded by amazing friends here in the Kingdom, otherwise my light might fade… and do you know what happens if my light dims? If my light fades, even the magic of Christmas starts to fade. We had a difficult moment once when I felt tired and my light began to go out, but thanks to the love and unity of all my friends in the Kingdom, my light started shining brightly again.

“Wow, let’s talk about them. Who are your dearest friends in the
Kingdom?”

Lucy: I have so many wonderful friends here! Pretty is definitely my best friend. She is a true 100% Elf. We have an extraordinary bond, and you know she was the very first one to give me a gift when I arrived? My red hat was her present to me… isn’t that amazing? Usually everyone comes to me for their wishes, and no one had ever given me anything before! I have to admit I lit up and shone even brighter from that moment on! Pretty is the only one who can lift me and place me to shine on top of the giant Christmas tree. I also love spending time
with Buddy, Rudy, Steve, Henry, and all the other Kingdom inhabitants. Even grumpy Dr. Krampy, Santa’s cousin who runs the coal factory with the help of the Sfatichinis, his helpers! They’re so funny, you should see them! And then there’s Lampo, the super-fast reindeer, who often tells me about his adventures
during the SantOlympic games and his incredible training… he says he wants to beat the speed of Light!!! Maybe I can help him!

“What are the most special moments you’ve lived in the Kingdom?”

Lucy: One of the most special moments was when Buddy and Pretty discovered the “Magisphere,” a secret place inside the Hall of Enchantment where people’s wishes are gathered. That night we invented our secret game, the WishCatching! It’s a magical game where Pretty fishes wishes with a magic
rod while Buddy, the 100% Elf, guides her… once they collect the wishes from the Magisphere, they pass them in front of me, and I make them come true! I still remember the very first wish we caught — it was a teddy bear wearing an elf hat! The WishCatching is truly a magical and special game, but it can be risky because it might bring wishes that come true too soon, or wishes that are not quite ready yet. Santa knows how important it is to let each wish have its
proper time to grow and mature. Even if we love secretly playing DreamCatcher, we know Santa is right to be careful. Like that time we accidentally fulfilled Dr.Krampy’s wish during the Santalloween story!!! You can’t imagine the mess!

“Really?! Can you tell us more about Santalloween?”

Lucy: Of course! One day, Dr. Krampy — Santa’s grumpy cousin — wished for the Kingdom of Santa Claus to turn into the Kingdom of Santalloween!

Without meaning to, I granted his wish while we were playing WishCatching, and the whole Kingdom was transformed with Halloween decorations and took on a completely different atmosphere. In the end though, we learned a great lesson!
It was such an important adventure that it even became a super-famous book: Lucy and the Secret of Santalloween, which you can find in the best bookstores!!!

“What do you love most about your job as a wishing star?”

Lucy: The part I love the most is seeing the joy in people’s hearts when their wishes come true. It’s a magical moment that fills my heart with light and happiness. Every smile, every laugh is a precious gift that reminds me how important my mission is. A happy person is a person who shines… just like a star! And when someone shines with joy, happiness, and good cheer, it’s a gift for the whole world! I also love seeing how my friends react when wishes come true. Steve the Candy Cane, for example, always throws a party whenever a big wish is fulfilled, and Bon Bon makes special treats for the occasion… yesterday she made some shaped like little stars, just like me!!

“Do you have a special wish you’d like to make for yourself?”

Lucy: Oh Polar Mama! No one has ever asked a star if she has a wish! Let me think… oh yes, I do have one! My wish, maybe the greatest of all, is that every person in the world could encounter the true magic of Christmas, the magic offered by the Kingdom, and find all the happiness in the world in small but immense acts of love. If I can help even a tiny bit to make that wish come true, I’ll be the happiest star in the sky. And then let me see… oh, how wonderful to think about wishes! Yes, one day I would love to visit the sea! I heard it’s like an upside-down sky, and that there are stars in the sea too!!! Maybe I have some relatives I don’t even know about yet! Wouldn’t that be amazing? And maybe I could go with Rudy the reindeer, who loves new adventures, and discover it together with her.

“How do you face the challenges and difficulties of the Kingdom?”

Lucy: I face them together with my friends. We know that united we can overcome any challenge. When things get tough, we remind ourselves of the Christmas values: love, generosity, and unity… with these values, we even got through Santalloween, turning it into… hmm, I can’t give you spoilers, but when you read the magical illustrated story you’ll understand perfectly what I mean. Even behind things that seem scary or different, there is always the possibility of finding joy and happiness. Another thing that helps me a lot is my friendship with Pretty. Often at night we sit and watch the stars from the swing tied to a branch of the great cherry tree in the Wishing Garden. That is a moment of serenity that helps me shine even when the clouds roll in.

“What would you like to say to those who hold a wish in their heart?”

Lucy: I would like to tell them to never stop dreaming. Wishes are very powerful tools, and they can come true if you believe in them with all your heart. Don’t be afraid to share your dreams and hope for the best. Usually, the fulfillment of a wish is always beyond the dimension where you were before you expressed it. A wish is not just magic becoming reality, but also an extraordinary journey… a journey that I am happy to guide from above and to share with each one of you.
And remember: every wish that comes true brings a little more of Christmas magic into our world, making it a better place.
